Nest Quest

Nest Quest

This 9” female pond slider turtle (Trachemys scripta), determined to lay eggs on a land nest, made her way up a 20’ grade, across an open area, and through the fenced goat pen into the ram pasture.  On the other side of the fence, she was barked at furiously as an intruder by guard dog Beretta. Once removed from her new-found trouble spot, she was returned to the loch to live another day (and probably spawn another generation).  Life in the springtime is always interesting!
