Survivors

By evening feeding time, much of the snow had melted on a cloudless day of pure below-freezing sunshine. The animals have fared well, patiently awaiting the thawing of their water in troughs where the ice was too thick for human stomping and pole-poking. If this was a test of fitness, they passed. We are grateful for the sudden beauty of a snowstorm - and grateful, too, that everyone on the farm is doing well.
